Jewels were stolen in a late-night raid on two security vans at a toll booth in France, the French national police force said Wednesday.
About 15 men attacked the two vans around midnight on Tuesday on the A6 highway at the Avallon toll booth in the Yonne department, about 170 kilometers (105 miles) southeast of Paris, a police spokesman told CNN.
The vans contained jewels, but the spokesman didn’t confirm the total value.
Nobody was hurt in the heist, after which the robbers fled in four high-speed cars. The two vans were found empty and abandoned near the toll booth.
The national police force is using aircraft to hunt for the robbers.
