Former International Monetary Fund chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn should be acquitted of aggravated pimping charges, the prosecutor in Strauss-Kahn’s trial told a French criminal court in Lille on Tuesday, according to the prosecutor’s spokeswoman.
Information on why the Lille prosecutor made the recommendation Tuesday, nearly two weeks after the trial began, wasn’t immediately available. But the same prosecutor’s office has long said there wasn’t enough evidence to pursue the case, which investigating magistrates pushed to trial against the office’s recommendation.
