Armilda Miller, 85, died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2015 at Penn Highlands Clearfield.
She was born June 19, 1929 at Coffee Run in Kishacoquillas Valley in Mifflin County to James Howard and Alberta (Hacket) Bonson.
She married A. Stanley Miller on April 10, 1949 at the Reedsville Lutheran Church. He preceded her in death in 1990.
She is survived by her daughters, Amy Vail and her husband, Robert Sr. of Brisbin and Lynne Eaton and her husband, Shane of Ramey and her siblings, Frank Bonson and his wife, Barbara, Marlin Bonson and Emily Bonson.
She is survived by her grandchildren, Nicole Shedlock, Lindsay Tarbay and her husband, Joe, Robert Vail Jr., Seth Vail, Bradley Eaton and Brian Eaton and her great-grandchildren, Grace Shedlock, Noah Tarbay, Samantha Tarbay, Kaden Vail and Mackenzie Vail.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Nan Miller Bartell, her brother-in-law, Robert Coulter and her sisters-in-law, Betty Bonson and Vi Bonson.
She graduated from the Reedsville High School in 1947. Following graduation she worked at United Telephone Co. as the chief operator.
During her life, she worked at many interesting jobs, including Anderson’s Department Store, Woodward Pharmacy’s Optical Department, American Home Patient and most recently the Bryce Jordan Center at State College as an usher.
She was a member of Faith United Lutheran Church in Houtzdale.
She was a past Worthy Matron of the Houtzdale Chapter of Eastern Star and a 50-year member of this organization.
She enjoyed traveling to New York City and to Broadway shows. She also traveled to England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Germany.
She enjoyed reading, writing, crossword puzzles and people with a positive attitude and a good sense of humor.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Feb. 22 at the Birger A. Freeberg Funeral Home Inc., Houtzdale. Friends will be received from 12 p.m. until the hour of the service.
Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Milroy.
