State police at DuBois
- An accident occurred Wednesday on Route 219 in Washington Township. William L. Elliott of DuBois was traveling south on a snow-covered roadway when he lost control of his vehicle. The vehicle began to slide into the oncoming lane of travel; after Elliott applied his brakes, the vehicle began to spin clockwise and exited the west berm. There, the vehicle struck a utility pole and came to a rest; it sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene. Elliott sustained minor injuries and was transported to the hospital for medical treatment.
- An accident occurred Tuesday on the DuBois – Rockton Road in Union Township. Scott L. Beatty of DuBois was traveling west where there were patches of ice on the roadway. While negotiating a left-hand curve, Beatty applied his brakes and subsequently lost control of his vehicle when its rear began to slide in a counter-clockwise rotation. His vehicle spun 180 degrees while continuing in its direction; it slid off of the north berm along an embankment and overturned onto its left side. Beatty’s vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene; Beatty wasn’t injured.
- On Wednesday, a known suspect allegedly engaged in a verbal argument with her boyfriend and then locked herself inside the victim’s vehicle on Valley Heights Road in Winslow Township. The suspect then allegedly broke a window out of the victim’s vehicle and drove it away from the scene without consent. The incident remains under investigation at this time, state police said.
- On Dec. 6, 2014, a known 52-year-old man allegedly failed to update his Megan’s Law registration as required of him. The incident remains under investigation at this time, state police said.
- A hit-and-run accident occurred Tuesday on Beechton Road in Washington Township. Further, the operator of a vehicle was traveling south when they lost control of their vehicle while negotiating a left-hand curve. The vehicle traveled off the roadway and struck a guide wire for a utility pole; this caused the utility pole to break. The operator of the vehicle then fled the scene, state police said.
Clearfield Borough
- Police received a report regarding a vehicle that was making excess noise. Further, police made contact with the owner and warned them of the complaint.
- Police had a wallet turned into them. Further, police will attempt to contact the owner of the wallet.
- Police have initiated an investigation into a hit- and-run accident that occurred along East Market Street. Further, police learned that a vehicle was struck and the suspect vehicle continued to travel on Market Street.
- Police were called to North Fourth Street to check the welfare of a male who has not been seen. Upon arrival police were able to make contact with the male who was found to be OK.
- Police were called to suspicious activity at a business along East Market Street.
Lawrence Township
- Police assisted probation officers with checking the welfare of three individuals at a South Second Street residence. As a result, police allegedly found drugs and drug paraphernalia. Charges are currently pending at this time, police said.
- Police received a parking complaint that occurred on Park Avenue Extension.
- Police received a report about an alleged incident of harassment by communications and a phone scam. Further, police would like to remind all residents not to provide personal information to unknown individuals by phone.
- Police received a report about a traffic violation in the Hyde area.
- Police have initiated an investigation into an alleged burglary that occurred at the Economy Inn on South Second Street.
- Police have initiated an investigation into an alleged burglary that occurred at a local apartment.
- Police received a report about a suspicious vehicle at a local business.
Curwensville Borough
- Police received a report about a tractor-trailer that struck a parked vehicle on Filbert Street. Police were able to identify the tractor-trailer, although the vehicle left the scene prior to their arrival.
- Police received a report about an alleged incident of harassment by communications.
- Police assisted a Bailey Road resident who was then transported by private vehicle to the hospital for an evaluation.
- Police received a report about an alleged incident of disorderly conduct in the area of Susquehanna Avenue.
DuBois City
- On Wednesday, police received a report about an alleged sexual assault that occurred on North Brady Street. Further, police said the victim was allegedly assaulted by a known male and charges are currently pending at this time.
- Police received a report about a two-vehicle accident Thursday in the 400 block of East DuBois Avenue. Both vehicles were towed from the scene, police said.
- Police received a report about a possible phone scam Thursday from a resident in the 500 block of Locust Street. Further, the resident was contacted by someone claiming to be with the IRS and requested to send $1,100 for back taxes. If he didn’t comply, he was allegedly told he would be placed under arrest. The resident wanted to warn authorities about the scam, police said.
- Police received a report about an alleged disturbance Thursday in the Martin’s Food Market parking lot. Upon arrival police found two males who had allegedly engaged in a verbal argument; the males parted ways. Police made contact with both males and no charges will be filed as a result of the incident.
- Police received a report about an alleged domestic disturbance in the 200 block of South Brady Street. Upon arrival police found two females who had allegedly engaged in a verbal argument over paying bills. Police determined it was a civil matter and cleared the scene.
- On Thursday, police received a report about an alleged incident of harassment by communications. Upon investigation police found both parties had exchanged harassing messages back and forth. Police advised both parties to cease contact with each other.
- Police received a report about an alleged domestic disturbance Thursday in the 500 block of Knarr Street. The issue was resolved prior to police arrival at the scene, police said.
- Police received a report about an active burglar alarm Thursday in the 100 block of Meadow Lane. Upon arrival police found everything to be OK.
- On Thursday, police were requested to assist mental health representatives with checking the welfare of a male in the 200 block of South Brady Street. A 302 warrant was issued and served without incident and the male was transported for treatment, police said.
- Police received a report Thursday about an alleged domestic disturbance in the 200 block of South Brady Street. Further, a female told police she had been locked out of her residence by her sister’s boyfriend. All parties were separated and located inside when police arrived to the scene; the issue was resolved without further incident, police said.
Sandy Township
- Police received a report about a false alarm Wednesday at the Central Catholic School.
- A 24-year-old DuBois man lost control of his vehicle Thursday on Flowing Well Road, causing it to travel into the oncoming lane. It subsequently hit a vehicle driven by a 39-year-old DuBois woman. Both vehicles were driven from the scene and no injuries were reported, police said.
- A 23-year-old DuBois man was stopped for a traffic violation on Thursday and police located a small amount of marijuana and paraphernalia. The man was cited for the violations, police said.
- On Thursday, police were called to a South Brady Street residence for an alleged domestic dispute. Further, police found that a 30-year-old DuBois man arrived to pick up a 34-year-old woman who lived there and got into an argument with a 50-year-old resident. The dispute was verbal in nature and police handled the situation without incident.
- On Thursday, a Tozier Avenue woman called 9-1-1 and then hung up after she got into an argument with her 52-year-old boyfriend because he went to watch wrestling with a friend. Police checked on the woman and handled the situation without incident.
