Johnsonburg — It’s always a positive to have eight different players make their mark on a scoreboard in a given game and Monday night the Bisons had that luxury on their way to a 46-31 victory over Johnsonburg. Chad Zuart paved the way for Clearfield with 14 points, eight of which came from a perfect night from the freethrow line. Trey Campman and Curtis Frye chipped in with nine and eight points respectively.
In the first quarter the Bisons the came out hot nailing a 3-pointer on their first possession of the game, but were unable to pull away from the Rams early as Clearfield clung to a 13-11 first quarter lead.
Clearfield was able to equal their first quarter output of 13 points, and were able to hold the Rams to only seven points in the frame. Zurat turned in another impressive first half with 10 points while Campman chipped in with eight by the intermission.
The Bisons were unable to find much of a spark in the third quarter other than two buckets by Frye and a three pointer by Jack Mellgard. However the Bisons nine points in the quarter were more than enough as they didn’t allow the Rams to score a single field goal in the quarter and only allowed three points on free throws.
Clinging on to a 35-21 lead heading into the fourth quarter the Bisons were able to run their spread offense and take time off the clock and close out the game with a 46-31 victory.
The Bisons will be back in action Wednesday when District 9 league foe Elk County Catholic comes to town with tipoff scheduled for 7:30.
