Bellefonte — Just one day after a huge District 9 league win over Brookville the Bisons were throttled by the Bellefonte Red Raiders.
The Bisons showed the inability to adapt to having to play on a Saturday by falling to score double digits in the first two quarters. In fact the Bisons last win on a Saturday came over DuBois on December 1, 2007 in the Keystone Tip-off Tournament.
The Bisons trailed early as the Red Raiders jumped out by as many as 10 points in the first frame on their way to a 14-7 first quater lead. Chad Zurat and Trey Campman were the only two Bison cagers to score buckets in the first frame.
In the second quarter Zurat was able to drop in five more points but gained little help while the Red Raiders got a monster quarter from Billy Nadolsky who poured in 10 points in the frame on his way to a game high 26 points. At the half the Bisons trailed 34-15.
The start of the half didn’t go much better as Campman and Zurat both picked up their fourth fouls in the period and the Bisons watched the 19 point halftime of the lead of the Red Raiders reach a high of 32 at one point in the third frame. At the end of three the Bisons trailed 53-28.
In the final frame the Bisons finally found a rythm with Ben Johnson cashing in three of his game high four three pointers and Zurat pouring in 11 more points in a frantic pace to try and catch up. Unfortunately for Clearfield it was too little, too late as the final buzzer sounded the Bisons were on the short end of a 67-57 score.
The Bisons now sit at 9-6 on the season and 6-3 in District 9 league play which currently places them third in the seven team league.
Clearfield will be back in action Monday when they travel to Johnsonburg to take on the Rams with tip off scheduled for 7:30
