CLEARFIELD – The state Department of Transportation (PennDOT), District 2, conducted a media availability tour at its new office building on Wednesday.
District 2 is now located at 70 PennDOT Dr., Clearfield. It’s located on a 9.58-acre site, which is a reclaimed strip mine, according to Marla Fannin, community relations coordinator.
The cost of the new District 2 office is approximately $16 million. It’s two stories high and a total 68,700 square feet; it accommodates 268 personnel that are assigned to the District 2 office, she said.
Also, she said there are 310 parking spaces, including eight that are handicap parking and two that are van accessible. She noted that visitor parking is located at the front building entrance; handicapped parking is located along the front entrance of the building.
The parking area was designed to meet stormwater management requirements, said Fannin.
She said the new office location also features a 6,700-square foot garage capable of servicing autos and small trucks, such as crew cabs. The garage, she said, will also house materials testing and long-term hi-density storage.
According to her, visitors are required to enter through the front entrance. Badge access is required to gain access to the divisions/units and must be worn when in the building.
Fannin said other new office highlights were eight conference rooms, including a computer training room and an elevator located in the middle of the building with stairs located on the left, right and center of the building.
The new office building, Fannin said, also has an emergency generator fueled by a diesel fuel tank that is located off of the first floor in the rear left-hand side of the building.
Fannin noted that the District 2 office’s post office box is not changing. She said that mail should continue to be directed to 70 PennDOT Dr., P.O. Box 342, Clearfield, PA 16830.
