Shirley I. Rowden, 79, of Clearfield died Thursday, Oct. 30, 2014 at her home. She was born Oct. 11, 1935, a daughter of the late Joseph and Sara (Hite) Mabie.
Mrs. Rowden retired from Target Sportswear. She had always been highly regarded for her hard work ethic and dedication.
Above all else, she loved her family, especially spending time with her sisters who were her best friends. She also had a special love for her dog, Holly.
She’s survived by three children, Fred Rowden and his wife, Laurie of Valparaiso, Ind., Patty Cates and her husband, Geoffrey of State College and Tina Hockenburry and her husband, Fred of Philipsburg; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Rowden and Geoffrey II, Tiffany and Brooke Cates; and a great-granddaughter, Victoria Maldonado.
She’s also survived by her sisters and best friends, Carol Elensky and Bob of Curwensville and Virginia Daub and her husband, Bill of Hyde; a brother, Robert Mabie and his wife, Linda of Clearfield; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Melvin Ray Rowden and her brother, Allen Mabie.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Kevin A Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield, with Pastor Terry Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Centre Cemetery, Hyde.
Friends will be received from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
