Verna Kundracik, 93, of Philipsburg died Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2014 at the Mountain Laurel Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Clearfield.
Born Aug. 22, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Anna (Levinsky) Shufran. She was a member of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church, Hawk Run.
She was a graduate of the Philipsburg High School in 1939. She worked as a clerk and buyer for various department stores. She was employed with Sears in Atlanta, Ga., for 18 years until her retirement.
She married Michael Kundracik on Jan. 29, 1948 in Corry. He preceded her in death on Oct. 29, 2007.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Ann Johnson, Margaret Kosut and Alice Alberico and two brothers, Alex and William Shufran.
She’s survived by a sister, Marie Radomsky and her husband, John of South Minneapolis, Minn., and a brother, Thomas Shufran of North Tonawanda, NY. She’s also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Nativity of St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church, Hawk Run, with the Rev. Peter Benyo officiating. Burial will be in the St. John the Baptist Orthodox Cemetery, Hawk Run.
Friends will be received from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Friday at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home, Philipsburg. Panachida will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
