William L. “Bill” McBride, 66, of Clearfield died Monday, Oct. 27, 2014 at Mountain Laurel Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
He was born March 1, 1948, the son of Lee R. and Bernice G. (Flegal) McBride.
Mr. McBride was a graduate of the Clearfield Area High School and the DuBois Business College. He retired from Soult Wholesale Company after 43 years of service.
He was a U.S. Army veteran during the Vietnam Era. He was Methodist by faith.
He loved his family and music, gardening and his cat, Buddy. He was the president of the Hobby Garden Club and a member of the Clearfield, Grampian and DuBois Community Bands in which he played the tuba.
He’s survived by his wife, Barbara L. (Pritts) McBride of Clearfield, whom he married on April 11, 1974 at the Messiah Baptist Church of Kylertown by the Rev. M.D. Fleming.
He’s also survived by a daughter, Laurie A. McBride of Curwensville; a grandson, James J. Krineski Jr.; a brother, Dennis M. McBride of Curwensville; a sister, Darlene A. McBride-Lash of Curwensville; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Bennett & Houser Funeral Home Inc., Clearfield, with the Rev. Robert Ludrowsky and Walter Fry, co-officiating. Burial will be in the Bradford Cemetery, Woodland.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 1 p.m. until the hour of services Thursday at the funeral home.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Clearfield County Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, 275 21st St., Clearfield, PA 16830.
