Earl L. Lender, 86, of Smithmill died Monday, Oct. 6, 2014 at the Altoona Center for Nursing Care, Altoona.
He was born Aug. 21, 1928 in Utahville, a son of the late John C. and Ettie (Davis) Lender.
Mr. Lender was a graduate of the former Beccaria Township High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He was a member of the Janesville VFW Stephen Kandrach Post No. 6321 and the Clearfield Eagles.
He was a truck driver. He owned his own truck and also worked for Reese Brothers of Houtzdale. He later worked for the Fullington Bus Co. of Clearfield.
Mr. Lender enjoyed gardening, lawn work and hunting and especially enjoyed his family. He was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates fan.
On Aug. 3, 1951 in St. Basil the Great Catholic Church, Coalport, he married Dolores Marie (Jeffries) Lender, who survives of Smithmill.
Mr. Lender is survived by three sons, Terry P. (Linda) Lender of Irvona, John E. Lender of Leesburg, Fla., and Dan M. (Amy) Lender of Reston, Va., and a daughter-in-law, Carol Lender of Plant City, Fla. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Gary F. Lender and four siblings, Clifford “Snuffy” Lender, Mary Ireland, George Lender and Nora Lender.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. – 10 a.m. Saturday at the Kruise Funeral Home Inc. Ramey.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at the St. Basil the Great Catholic Church, Coalport, with Fr. Zab Amar as celebrant.
Burial will follow in the Utahville Cemetery, Beccaria Township, with military honors being accorded by the Janesville VFW Post No. 6321.
