William “Bill” R. Marsh, 72, of Philipsburg died Sunday, Sept. 7, 2014 at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.
Born Feb. 8, 1942 in Brisbin, he was the son of the late Arthur Marsh and Lillian (Combe) Zeigler. He married the former Carol A Butterworth on Aug. 31, 1968 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Philipsburg; she survives at home.
Mr. Marsh was a member of the Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Philipsburg. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
He was a member of the American Legion Freeberg Post No. 591 in Houtzdale, the B.P.O. Elks, Lodge No. 1173 in Philipsburg and the Punxsutawney Polka Club.
Mr. Marsh was employed as an insurance agent and an emeritus agent with the Prudential Insurance Company for 48 years. He was a 1960 graduate of the Houtzdale – Woodward High School.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Marsh is survived by a son, Christopher R. Marsh and his wife, Casey of (Keystone Hill) RD Philipsburg; a sister, Margaret Archer and her husband, Stephen of Houtzdale; and a brother, Joseph Zeigler and his wife, Pam of Houtzdale: and a niece and three nephews.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Philipsburg, with the Rev. Robert J. Kelly as celebrant. Burial will be at the American Legion Cemetery in Brisbin.
Friends will be received from 3 p.m. – 5 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Thursday at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home, Philipsburg. The rosary will be recited at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
