David Michael Brown Sr., 72, of Luthersburg died Saturday, Sept. 6, 2014 at UPMC Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Born Sept. 4, 1942 in Gloucester, Mass., he was the son of the late Harold and Harriett (Selig) Brown. On Aug. 2, 1963, he married Bonnie (Salada) Brown. She survives.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was a self-employed carpenter for many years and worked as a municipal police officer, serving in Reynoldsville, Sykesville and Snyder Township.
He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast. He enjoyed training Labrador Retrievers and restoring antique and classic cars and trucks. He loved to drink coffee and make his daily rounds to visit with friends.
He is survived by two sons, David M. Brown Jr. and his wife, Sandy of Fredericksburg, Va. and Llewellyn “Keith” Brown and his wife, Jennifer of DuBois; two grandchildren, Alyssa and Ian Brown and three step-grandchildren, Bryant, Kristi and Austin Dahl; two sisters, Carol Maglio and Harriett “Sissy” Cognato; an uncle, Earl Selig; and an aunt, Virginia Madruga.
There will be no public visitation.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Light & Life Free Methodist Church, DuBois, with Pastor Mark Lutcher officiating.
Burial will be in Salem Cemetery.
The Goble-Baronick Funeral Home is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
