CLEARFIELD – The Penn State Extension is accepting registrations for upcoming StrongWomen classes to be held in Elk, Jefferson and Clearfield counties.
This ongoing research project focuses on providing middle-aged and older adults nutrition and health education, in addition to performing upper- and lower-body exercises with the goal of reducing the negative physical impacts of aging.
This program is designed to prevent or delay osteoporosis while increasing balance, agility and flexibility. It is allowing adults to maintain their independence as they age.
Led by trained site leaders, the classes meet for 60-75 minutes twice per week for 12 weeks. Participants track their personal progress, as well as compare their results against national averages. Classes will be held in Brookville, Punxsutawney, DuBois, Clearfield, Curwensville, Mahaffey, Reynoldsville, Karthaus, St. Marys, Ridgway and Weedville. The cost for the 24 sessions is $75 if registered by Aug. 24. Scholarships are also available.
