Mary E. Williams, 77, of Clearfield died Sunday, Aug. 3, 2014 at the Select Specialty Hospital, Johnstown. She was born Sept. 13, 1936, in South Carolina, the daughter of Joseph and Vaselo (Nastopolis) Pippin.
Mrs. Williams had worked in various retail businesses. She was Methodist by faith.
She’d volunteered as a Candy Striper and with Foster Care. She was an accomplished piano player and played for Army men when they returned home to South Carolina and the New Brunswick chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
In South Carolina, she served as a notary and was a member of the Eastern Star. She took care of family members, was a mother to many, liked to make people laugh and loved to entertain.
She’s survived by six children, Tracy Williams, Monica Williams-Stass, Eric Williams and George Rasch, all of New Jersey and Eugene Williams and Helen Oswalt of Clearfield; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Williams was the last member of her generation. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clarence F. Williams Jr.; and an infant.
Honoring Mrs. Williams’ wishes, there will be no public viewing or visitation. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
