STATE COLLEGE – Re-opening a bridge near the village of Coburn has been delayed until sometime next week.
Replacement work on the Route 2018 (Woodward Cave Road) bridge began in mid-June, with expectations it would re-open by July 18. A change in the guide rail delivery schedule has created the delay.
With the re-opening delayed, the detour must remain in place. PennDOT‘s official detour uses Route 2018, Route 2011 (Coburn Road), and Route 45.
The bridge spans an unnamed tributary of Pine Creek just east of the village of Coburn in Penn Township. The bridge carries an average of 125 vehicles each day.
Replacing the bridge will remove it from Centre County’s structurally deficient list. PennDOT Centre County Maintenance is performing the replacement work.
Drivers are reminded to obey posted speed limits, follow detour signs, and as always, buckle up.
