Violet L. Windham, 86, of DuBois and formerly of West Palm Beach, Fla., died Sunday, June 29, 2014 at Christ the King Manor.
Born Sept. 1, 1927 in DuBois, she was the daughter of the late Michael S. and Kathryn A. (Pruzinsky) Krishart.
She was married to Charles C. Mecca. He preceded her in death on Nov. 24, 1970. She then married Clyde T. Windham. He preceded her in death on Dec. 26, 1980.
She worked at McCrory’s 5&10 and Jeffers Electronics while she lived in DuBois. While living in West Palm Beach, Fla., she was the assistant manager of the Palm Beach Inlet Dock, a teacher of dance, a legal secretary for Clyde Windham and a cocktail waitress at Club Flamingo. She also worked for the Moose Club for 15 years.
She was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church in DuBois and a 50-year member of St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church in West Palm Beach, Fla.
She was a 50-year member of the Women of the Moose Chapter 938, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles in West Palm Beach, Fla. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Lake Worth, Fla. She was especially proud of her Slovak heritage.
She is survived by her son, Michael Mecca of DuBois; four sisters, Geraldine Mitravich and Madolene Ferut, both of DuBois, Irene Acuff of Charleston, SC and her twin sister, Viola Fischer of West Palm Beach, Fla.; a brothe, Michael Krishart of DuBois; three grandchildren, Charles, Michael and Kari Jaloski; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Irene Jaloski.
Friends will be received from 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. July 6 at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. July 7 at the St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church with Fr. Daniel Kresinski as celebrant.
Burial will be in St. Michael Cemetery.
