Joseph A. Miller, “The Rattlesnake Man,” 77, of Black Moshannon died Friday, June 20, 2014 at his home.
Born May 6, 1937 in Philipsburg, he was a son of the late Edwin C. and Isabelle (Pryde) Miller.
He was the class president graduating from the Philipsburg High School in 1955. He had worked 33 years at Black Moshannon State Park in the maintenance department.
He was a petty officer, third class in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Philipsburg VFW Louis P. Jenkins Post 3450.
He was an artist and enjoyed hunting, fishing, wood working and having fun with his friends.
Mr. Miller is survived by a daughter, Lisa Walles of Clearfield; two brothers, Gene Miller and his wife, Sylvia of Summerville and Neal Miller of Philipsburg; two granddaughters, Jessica and Kaylee; several nieces and nephews; a special friend, Diane Thomas of Black Moshannon; and his constant companion, “Stormy.”
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by infant twins, two brothers, Edwin Miller Jr. and William Miller and a sister, Nellie Wellar.
A celebration of Mr. Miller’s life will be held at his home, at 5643 Black Moshannon Rd., at 3 p.m. June 28. Burial will be in Beaver Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
