Mildred F. Evans, 93, a resident of Knickerbocker Villa, Clearfield, died Saturday, June 14, 2014 at the Mountain Laurel Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Clearfield.
She was born Feb. 1, 1921 in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Carl and Hulda (Anderson) Fjell. She was employed at Shull Photography and the Leitzinger Department Store.
After graduating from the Peabody High School, she attended the Ad Art School of Pittsburgh, where she was able to hone her many artistic talents. She enjoyed sketching, painting and all crafts; however, she was most proud of her heavy oil paintings of her grandchildren.
She also had been an active volunteer with the Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging and a member of the Friendship Club and Susquehanna River Arts Center. She was also a member of the St. John Lutheran Church, Clearfield.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Thompson and her husband, Jeff of Clearfield; three grandchildren, Jeffrey Thompson and his wife, Melissa and Scott Evans and his wife, Shelley, both of Clearfield, and Jody Thompson Collins and her husband, Doug of State College; eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Orison R. Evans, on May 23, 1989. She was also preceded in death by her son, Richard ‘Dick’ Evans; a sister, Margaret Howe; and a brother, Reynold Segerdahl.
Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.
