Agency Recognizes 27 Employees across Pennsylvania
CLEARFIELD – PennDOT Secretary Barry J. Schoch has recognized 27 PennDOT employees for their outstanding performance with the Star of Excellence Award, PennDOT’s highest recognition.
Two employees from PennDOT’s District 2, which represents Cameron, Centre, Clearfield, Clinton, Elk, Juniata, McKean, Mifflin and Potter counties were among the honorees.
“The Star of Excellence award illustrates that these are employees who set an example for their colleagues through their leadership and dedication to providing exceptional service,” Schoch said.
“Our customers have entrusted a great investment to us with the new transportation plan, and these recipients are helping us meet our goals in each focus of our mission.”
Local winners Sandy Snyder and Pete Kempf were honored this afternoon at an awards luncheon at the Governor’s Residence in Harrisburg.
“It is always a pleasure to recognize the superior work of our employees,” said District 2 Executive Kevin Kline. “This year District 2 is very happy to recognize Sandy and Pete for their exceptional efforts.
“Each day they embrace their work challenges with enthusiasm and consistently show the kind of commitment that allows PennDOT to provide the highest levels of customer service and satisfaction”.
Snyder serves District 2 as a management technician. Numerous achievements earned Sandy her Star of Excellence award, including creation of site specific monthly tank inspection checklists for each of the District’s 55 stockpiles. She also developed aerial site maps for the combined facility response plans for the maintenance stockpiles. Sandy resides in the Punxsutawney area with her family.
Kempf serves District 2 as the posted bonded roads coordinator. He was selected as a Star of Excellence for providing critically important leadership to District 2 roadway maintenance program staff and central office staff as the department continues to improve the Posted and Bonded Roads program.
He was also instrumental in making positive changes and cost saving measures in a variety of areas. He resides in the State College area with his family.
The Star of Excellence Awards are presented annually to employees who represent the department’s values of service, performance and integrity. The recipients represent a variety of organizational positions, spanning from highway maintenance and driver and vehicle services workers, to programming specialists, communications staff and design and engineering specialists.
