HARRISBURG – Gov. Tom Corbett has ordered all United States and Pennsylvania flags at Commonwealth facilities statewide lowered to half-staff on Thursday in recognition of National Peace Officers Memorial Day.
Created by the U.S. Congress, Peace Officers Memorial Day honors the memory of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty.
“On this day, we recognize and pay tribute to the local, state and federal law enforcement officers who courageously put their lives on the line to protect our citizens and communities. We honor them for their selfless public service, valor and leadership,” stated Corbett.
All Pennsylvanians are invited to join in this tribute.
