CURWENSVILLE – The Allegheny Spay & Neuter Clinic/Animal Welfare Council will host a “Doggone 5K” Run/Walk (and one-mile fun walk) on May 3 at Curwensville Lake.
The run/walk will begin at 8:30 a.m.; packet pick-up will begin at 7:30 a.m. at the Dam pavilion. There is a $15 entry fee for the 5K and a $10 entry fee for the one-mile fun walk.
Registration forms can be obtained at the Allegheny Spay & Neuter Clinic, located at 1380 Shawville Hwy., in Woodland (beside the Post Office) or by emailing info@animal411.net. Participants should pre-register for the 5K by April 24 to be guaranteed a T-shirt.
Leashed pets are welcomed and encouraged to accompany participants. All dogs must have proof of a current rabies vaccine. Certificates will be awarded to top male and female finishers in all age groups.
The event will take place rain or shine and the course will encompass some wooded trails, which may not be suitable for strollers. There will be water stations at every mile marker, as well as water and fruit at the conclusion.
There will be homemade baked goods and door prizes. Sponsorship opportunities are available for businesses or individuals for the race. Anyone wanting to volunteer to help with the 5K should call 814-857-5280.
