C.G. Johnson Elementary School recently held a “20-20 Reading Challenge.” Students were challenged to read for 20 minutes for 20 days during the month of February.
Parents tracked the titles, number of pages or minutes that their child read. Each week students who met the challenge received a ticket that was placed in the “challenge” box. Those students who participated all four weeks in February received an extra ticket.
On March 11, the winners were drawn for prizes that were purchased as part of Parent Involvement through Title 1. It was estimated that one-third of the students and families were involved in the challenge.
