State police at Clearfield
- No injuries were reported after a single-vehicle accident Wednesday on the Woodland-Bigler Highway west of Shiloh Road in Bradford Township. Dinelle Merryman of Philipsburg was traveling westbound when she lost control of her vehicle on the icy roadway. She traveled off the north shoulder in a clockwise direction and struck a snow embankment. Merryman was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the accident.
- Two commercial vehicles were involved in an accident Wednesday on Interstate 80 at mile marker 128 in Graham Township. Charles W. Starkweather Jr. of Asheboro, NC was traveling west in the left-hand lane. At the time, Matthew Shoemaker of Muncy Valley was traveling west in the right-hand lane of I-80. The roadway was extremely icy, which caused Starkweather to lose control, travel into the right-hand lane and strike Shoemaker’s unit. After impact both pulled onto the north berm. No injuries were reported as a result of the accident.
State police at Philipsburg
- On Thursday, an individual found seven plastic baggies containing suspected synthetic marijuana along Penn Five Road in Rush Township. The suspected drugs were recovered by state police.
Lawrence Township
- Police checked the welfare of a resident on Valley View Drive after a 9-1-1 hang up call. Upon arrival police found a small child playing with the phone.
- Police received a report about a phone scam in which the victim had been advised of winnings from the Publisher’s Clearing House. The victim was directed to send money on a pre-paid credit card to collect their winnings.
- Police assisted a motorist along state Route 879.
- Police received a report about a noise complaint in Hillsdale. The incident was listed as unfounded.
DuBois City
- On Tuesday, a DuBois man reported receiving harassing phone calls. The incident remains under investigation.
- On Tuesday, a single-vehicle accident occurred in the parking lot just off of College Place. Further, a 20-year-old DuBois man struck a utility pole at a high rate of speed. The man suffered major injuries and was taken to the hospital by ambulance. The accident remains under investigation at this time.
- On Wednesday, police received several calls related to the ice storm. During the morning hours, police assisted numerous motorists after their vehicles slid out of control due to the icy roadways. No injuries were reported as a result of these accidents.
- On Wednesday, two men engaged in an argument in the 300 block of West Long Avenue. Upon arrival police resolved the situation without filing any charges.
- Sometime overnight Thursday, someone struck a parked vehicle on Shaffer Alley. The victim told police his rental car, a 2014 Nissan Versa, had been sideswiped, which left a green paint transfer. The incident remains under investigation.
- On Thursday, someone created a hole in the driver’s side window of a 2002 Buick Century when it was parked in the 300 block of Knarr Street. The incident remains under investigation.
- On Thursday, a two-vehicle accident occurred in the area of East DuBois Avenue and North Fourth Street. No injuries were reported and both vehicles were driven from the scene. Penn State DuBois police assisted at the scene.
- On Thursday, police initiated an investigation into the theft of mail from a residence in the 100 block of East Long Avenue.
