CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield-based state police are currently investigating multiple motor vehicle accidents on Interstate 80.
At this time, both westbound lanes of I-80 are closed between mile-markers 120 and 127 due to motor/commercial vehicle accidents and disabled vehicles. No serious injuries have been reported, state police said.
Due to this morning’s freezing rain, ice accumulation has created extremely slippery roadway conditions. Crews are attempting to clear roadways; however, icy road surfaces can cause vehicles to lose traction even at low speeds, state police said.
State police would like to advise motorists to drive carefully and only if necessary. Motorists are to select alternate routes due to road closures and to allow extra time for travel.
