GOBBLER’S KNOB – Every Feb. 2 for 128 years, Punxsutawney Phil has predicted the upcoming weather season. Today, Phil was raised from his burrow in the old oak stump and the prognostication was read, “A Super Bowl winner I will not predict. But my weather forecast, you cannot contradict. Why that’s not a football but my shadow I see. So, six more weeks of winter it must be!”

CLEARFIELD – At yesterday’s work session, the Clearfield County Commissioners authorized their solicitor to initiate procedures for making a claim after Huston Township Tax Collector Dorothy Johnston failed to settle her tax duplicate for 2013.
Man to Stand Trial in Sexual Assault Case
CLEARFIELD – A 21-year-old Madera man accused of engaging in sex acts with a 15-year-old girl had all charges held for court by Magisterial District Judge James Hawkins after a preliminary hearing on Wednesday at the Clearfield County Jail.
Township Schedules Public Meeting for Sewage Project
CLEARFIELD – At this week’s meeting, the Lawrence Township Supervisors scheduled the first public meeting for residents affected by the Phase III sewage project. The public meeting will be held at 6:30 pm. Feb. 20 at the Hyde Fire Hall.
Project Updates Presented at CCEDC Meeting

Ralston Waives Hearing in Indecent Assault Case
CLEARFIELD – A Clearfield man accused of indecent assault waived his right to a preliminary hearing Wednesday during Centralized Court at the Clearfield County Jail.
John Joel Ralston, 51, of Clearfield has been charged with indecent assault/person less than 13 years of age. The charges stem from an alleged incident that occurred in February or March of 2013 when the victim was visiting Ralston at his camp/residence.
