CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield Salvation Army had a successful 2013 Red Kettle Campaign. In all, it raised $46,966.66 at Red Kettles throughout the Clearfield community.
Captain Sharon Harford, corps commanding officer, said, “Our goal was $40,000, and we raised nearly $7,000 above our goal. That is absolutely wonderful. I would like to thank all of our donors and bell ringers who made this possible.”
The funds raised, she said, will not only help with the Salvation Army 2013 Christmas Assistance to the community, but also to meet its current-year budget needs. In all, the Salvation Army assisted 321 families with Christmas food and distributed 2,536 Christmas toys to 629 children in the Clearfield, Curwensville and Woodland communities.
“We could not help in this capacity if it were not for the generosity of our community,” said Harford.
She noted that need doesn’t know any season, and the Salvation Army continues throughout the year to provide emergency assistance and life-changing programs to the residents of the Clearfield area. To donate, volunteer or participate, she said you can contact the Salvation Army at 814-775-4981.
