CLEARFIELD – A preliminary hearing was continued for a man accused of possessing heroin by Magisterial District Judge Jerome Nevling during Centralized Court on Wednesday at the Clearfield County Jail.
Albert Michael Stansbury, 63, of Coalport has been charged with manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver; intentional possession of a controlled substance by a person not registered; and use/possession of drug paraphernalia. His preliminary hearing was continued until 10:15 a.m. Jan. 8, 2014 at the CCJ.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on Nov. 21, the Clearfield-based state police were dispatched to Tomorrow’s Hope Veterans Home in Beccaria Township. The staff had discovered 25 packs of a controlled substance, which was suspected to be heroin.
Upon arrival at the scene, state police interviewed a staff member. He had been performing routine checks in the area where Stansbury resided at the home. During a pat down, he reportedly found Stansbury in possession of 25 packs of suspected heroin.
During an interview with state police, Stansbury stated he’d gone to the Pittsburgh Veterans Hospital with two other residents. After going there, they went to Homestead, where he and another resident acquired the suspected heroin for Stansbury.
Stansbury told state police he wanted the heroin because he was out of depression medication. He also stated that the heroin was only for his personal use.
