William D. Chittester, 91, of DuBois died Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013 at Christ the King Manor.
Born Sept. 23, 1922 in Falls Creek, he was the son of the late Arthur and Lottie (Matthews) Chittester.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during World War II.
In 1943, he married Peggy V. (Cowherd) Chittester. She preceded him in death on Oct. 23, 2012.
He retired from the Riverside Division of the Penn Traffic Co. after 25 years of service.
He was a member of Lakeside United Methodist Church. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing the course at Treasure Lake and the DuBois Country Club.
He’s survived by his two children, Jeri Kost and her husband, Eric of Perrysburg, Ohio and William “Mick” Chittester and his wife, Sharon of DuBois; a sister, Jean Mong and her husband, Alfred of Franklin; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, Lawrence, Robert, Thomas, Dale and Kenneth and two sisters, Ruth Crawford and Gladys Morrison.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. Tuesday, at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Lakeside United Methodist Church with his son, the Rev. Mick Chittester and Pastor Bob Zilhaver officiating.
Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery.
