UNIVERSITY PARK – The way health care is provided and paid for in the United States is rapidly changing. With the implementation of the Affordable Care Act approaching, these changes will continue.
On the next episode of WPSU-TV’s “Conversations LIVE,” experts discuss the consolidation of health care providers and insurers, the possibility of a shortage of doctors and the new employer wellness practices. Joining host Patty Satalia are Dennis Scanlon, Dr. Joseph Wiedemer and Antoinette Kraus.

Scanlon is a professor of health policy and administration with the College of Health and Human Development at Penn State. He serves as the principal investigator for the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s Aligning Forces for Quality evaluation and has a research background in health systems improvement. Scanlon is widely published on a variety of topics in the health services field with more than 70 peer reviewed journal articles, book chapters and research briefs.
Wiedemer is the new program director for the future Penn State Hershey Family Medicine Residency Program at Mount Nittany Medical Center. He also treats patients at Penn State Hershey Medical Group in State College. Weidemer earned his medical degree from Temple University and completed his residency in family medicine at West Jersey Hospital.
Kraus is the director of the Pennsylvania Health Access Network, a statewide coalition of more than 60 organizations working to protect high quality health insurance coverage for individuals and businesses, and to expand coverage to the uninsured.
