Jeff Tech held its Veterans Day program on Friday. The program was under the direction of SFC Michael Barnett of the National Guard. Former and present students and staff were honored during the ceremony, as they were recognized for their service.
There was an essay contest held prior to the event. The topic was “What would you sacrifice for your freedom?” Winning essays were selected by English and history Clarion University block student teachers. An honorable mention went to a junior Cosmetology student Jordyn Glatt of DuBois.
The winning essay was written by Protective Services junior Justin Gooden also of DuBois. Gooden was awarded a cash prize of $200 donated by the Reynoldsville American Legion Post No. 392. Both students read their essays at the Veterans Day assembly.
