Man Pleads Guilty to False Kidnapping Report
CLEARFIELD – A man who told police he had been kidnapped recently pleaded guilty to unsworn falsification to authorities and false reports in Clearfield County Court.
Matthew James Kelce, 24, of Austintown, Ohio, was sentenced to 21 days to one year in jail and one year consecutive probation. He was fined $1,025 plus costs and must pay restitution of $2,728. He was also ordered to have a mental health assessment.
Woman Pleads Guilty to Selling Marijuana to Undercover Officers
CLEARFIELD – A former Woodland woman charged with selling marijuana to undercover officers recently pleaded guilty during plea and sentencing court in Clearfield County.
Jennifer Lyn Kristofits, 22, whose address is now listed as Altoona, pleaded guilty to criminal conspiracy/delivery of a controlled substance-marijuana in one case, and delivery of a controlled substance-marijuana and criminal use of communication facility in a second case. She was sentenced to 90 days to one year in jail and two years consecutive probation. She was fined $300 plus costs.
CNB Financial Corp. Closes Merger With FC Banc Corp.
CLEARFIELD – CNB Financial Corp. announced today the closing on Oc. 11 of its previously announced merger with FC Banc Corp.
Under the terms of the agreement, FC merged with and into CNB, with CNB being the surviving corporation of the merger. Additionally, Farmers Citizens Bank, the wholly owned subsidiary of FC, merged with and into CNB Bank, a wholly owned subsidiary of CNB, with CNB Bank continuing as the surviving entity.
LT Supers Gear up for Phase III of Sewage Project
CLEARFIELD – The Lawrence Township Supervisors reviewed several items regarding the proposed Phase III sewage project at last night’s meeting.
Lawrence Township Solicitor James Naddeo reported receiving information from Stiffler, McGraw and Associates Inc., the township’s engineering firm, regarding the projected costs of the Phase III sewage project. He said the engineers estimate the project costs conservatively at $2.3 million. Naddeo said with this information, the supervisors can authorize him to begin canvassing banks for bids on a tax-free loan.
Gabler Debt Reduction Legislation Bound for Governor’s Desk
HARRISBURG – Legislation to reduce the state’s debt, require more efficient and transparent use of taxpayer dollars while continuing job creation initiatives through Pennsylvania’s Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) authored by state Rep. Matt Gabler (R-Clearfield/Elk), House Bill 493, awaits the signature of Gov. Tom Corbett following passage by the state Senate and yesterday’s concurrence by the House of Representatives.
Trial Gets Under Way for Accused Robber
CLEARFIELD – The trial for a Clearfield man accused of robbing Domino’s Pizza at knifepoint on April 4 got under way yesterday before Clearfield County President Judge Fredric Ammerman.
William Lee Rauch, 35, of Clearfield has been charged with robbery, two counts; terroristic threats; simple assault; theft by unlawful taking; and receiving stolen property.
Son Headed to Trial for Assaulting Father
CLEARFIELD – A son accused of assaulting his father had all charges held for court by Magisterial District Judge Jerome Nevling after a preliminary hearing Wednesday at the Clearfield County Jail.
Scott Allen Ball, 27, of Morann has been charged with aggravated assault, simple assault and harassment. He’s incarcerated at the CCJ in lieu of $25,000 bail.

Orlando, FL, United States (4E) – Two prisoners serving life sentences for murders are being hunted after they separately escaped from the Franklin Correctional Institution in the Panhandle using fake release orders from a judge.
CLEARFIELD – Testimony wrapped up yesterday in the trial of a Clearfield man accused of robbing Domino’s Pizza in April. Clearfield County President Judge Fredric Ammerman will charge the jury and send them into deliberations this morning.

Clearfield Borough Approves Purchase of Patrol Car
CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield Borough Council approved the purchase of a new police patrol car at Thursday’s meeting.
A 2014 Ford Taurus with police interceptor content, lights, sirens, rear partition and 3.5-liter Eco-Boost engine will be ordered from Dotts Motor Company for state contract price of $37,443. Operations Manager Leslie Stott said it’ll be three to four months before the vehicle is delivered. It was noted that $25,000 of the cost for the new patrol car will be expensed out of the 2013 budget, with the balance to be expensed from the 2014 budget.
Rauch Found Guilty in Robbery Case
CLEARFIELD – Jurors deliberated for approximately two hours today before finding a Clearfield man guilty of robbing Domino’s Pizza in April. Clearfield County President Judge Fredric Ammerman presided over the case.
William Lee Rauch, 35, of Clearfield was found guilty of robbery/threat of serious bodily injury; robbery/threat of immediate bodily injury; terroristic threats; simple assault; and theft by unlawful taking. The charges stemmed from an armed robbery that occurred April 4 at Domino’s Pizza in Clearfield Borough.
