DUBOIS – Roadway improvement work is continuing on Route 255 near the Interstate 80 DuBois/101 interchange.
PennDOT now expects most work to be complete by the end of this year with a smoother roadway surface and new traffic signals at the I-80 ramps providing area drivers with more efficient travel and improved traffic flow.
The week of Oct. 14 will feature the following activity:
- The contractor will perform binder course and finish course paving on the interchange ramps. Traffic will flow in both directions using the right and center lanes of Route 255 but traffic will occasionally be stopped to allow I-80 ramp traffic to move through the area. Motorists can expect intermittent travel delays during daytime work hours.
- The contractor will build up and perform finish paving on the transitions between the I-80 ramps and mainline Route 255.
- The contractor will perform saw-cutting, joint sealing, and paving of driveway entrances. Motorists can expect intermittent travel delays during daytime work hours.
- Signal work will begin off the mainline. This work is not expected to impact traffic.
PennDOT reminds drivers to remain alert and proceed through the work zone with caution.
Overall work on Route 255 will include milling and paving, bridge deck repair, cleaning and upgrading of pipe culverts and inlets, water-line extension, and installation of new traffic signals at the I-80 ramps.
All work is weather and schedule dependent. New Enterprise Stone and Lime Inc. is the contractor on this $3.7 million project.
