Temporary signals will control traffic
STATE COLLEGE – On behalf of Gov. Tom Corbett, PennDOT has announced that work to rehabilitate a bridge on Route 64 in Centre County will get under way Oct. 8. Once work is complete, area drivers will enjoy safer, more efficient travel across a modern structure.
Weather permitting, work on the bridge will start Oct. 8 under an alternating traffic pattern enforced by temporary traffic signals. Drivers will take turns moving through the construction zone.
The bridge spans Little Fishing Creek in Walker Township, between Hublersburg and the village of Nittany. The Hublersburg Bridge was built in 1960, is 60 feet long and carries an average of almost 4,400 vehicles each day.
Work is expected to last through late December and includes replacement of the deck, abutment and wing repairs, new concrete barrier, guiderail, and pavement markings. Glenn O. Hawbaker Inc. of State College is the contractor for this $250,000 job.
Drivers are reminded to obey posted speed limits and always buckle up.
