Mary Jane Demchak, 88, of Osceola Mills and formerly of Hollidaysburg died Friday, Sept. 13, 2013 at her home.
She was the daughter of the late James and Ruth (Heininger) Rooney born Aug. 22, 1925 in Hollidaysburg.
She married her first husband, Walter E. Price Jr. on Nov. 7, 1945 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Hollidaysburg, and he preceded her in death Oct. 13, 1969. She married her second husband, Edward M. Demchak on July 24, 1971 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Osceola Mills, and he preceded her in death April 5, 1982.
Mrs. Demchak was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Osceola Mills, where she was also a member of the Rosary Society.
She was a homemaker who was well-known for her love of her family, caring for stray animals in need of shelter and her love of flowers. She graduated from the Hollidaysburg High School.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Ellen McCale and Marjorie Bingham.
Mrs. Demchak is survived by a step-daughter, Kathleen Demchak and her husband, Stephen R. Gleason of Julian; a step-son, Edward G. Demchak of Laporte; and two grandsons, Timothy Gleason and Jeffrey Gleason.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Osceola Mills, with the Rev. Father Robert Horgas officiating. Burial will be at the Alto Reste Park Cemetery in Altoona.
Friends will be received from 5 – p.m. – 8 p.m. at the Heath Funeral Home in Osceola Mills. The Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
