Dorothy Ann (Robinson) Dare, 77, of Lower Paxton Township, Harrisburg, entered eternal life Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013. She was born June 6, 1936 in Woodbury Township of Blair County.
A graduate of Osceola Mills High School, she enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. Assigned to Lackland Air Force Base, Texas, she met Airman Eugene Dare of Harrisburg. They married Feb. 19, 1955 and raised a family of three girls.
She enjoyed creating rose gardens, crocheting afghans, doing crossword puzzles and reading.
She was employed by New Cumberland Army Depot and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, working for the state’s Transportation Department, Liquor Control Board and Comptroller’s Office.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Eugene Dare. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Merle and Mane (Griffith) Robinson and sisters, Janet Smith and Nancy Force.
She left behind her daughters, Linda (Dare) Wass, who is married to Michael T. Wass; Kathryn Dare; and Polly (Dare) Ferron; three grandchildren, Jayson Kern, who is married to Michelle (Becker) Kern; Anna Bogdan; and Shannon Wass and partner, Sarah Reichkart; and two great-grandchildren, Leslie Brown and Jayde Kern.
She’s survived by two sisters, Geraldine Hawkins of Morrisdale and Ellen Sabella of Osceola Mills; two brothers-in-law, Nicholas Sabella Sr. and James Force Sr.; and numerous nephews and nieces.
In compliance with her final wishes, the family will not be holding viewing or funeral services. She was transported directly to Indiantown Gap for military honors.
