John D. Myrter Jr., 52, of Lakewood, Colo., and formerly of DuBois, died Saturday, July 27, 2013 at his residence.
Born Feb. 18, 1961 in Clearfield, he was the son of John D. Myrter Sr. and Loretta (Gearhart) Myrter. They both survive and live in DuBois.
He attended St. Catherine and Central Catholic Schools. He attended Penn State DuBois and the University of Pittsburgh, and was a graduate from the University of San Francisco Sacramento.
He was a veteran and retired from the U.S. Air Force and California Air National Guard as an electronics communications technician.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree and a volunteer in various Denver, Colo. area social and religious organizations.
He’s survived by two brothers, Jeffrey Myrter of Seattle, WA and Michael Myrter and his wife, Heather of Palmer, AK and a sister, Kathy Dressler and her husband, Mark of DuBois and one niece and two nephews.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Roy and Bertha (Duckett) Gearhart and his paternal grandparents, Bernard and Arvilla (Ardery) Myrter.
There will be no public visitation.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
Burial will be in St. Catherine’s Cemetery.
