The investigation is continuing into an incident of theft/access device fraud that occurred Thursday at Lykens Market in Port Matilda Borough. During the incident, a 32-year-old Altoona man allegedly removed two wallets that belonged to the victims; the wallets were in the office area of the market. The suspect allegedly attempted to make numerous purchases with the victims’ credit cards in the State College area. The amount of the purchases was more than $1,500.
An incident of retail theft and possession of drug paraphernalia occurred Sunday at the Dollar General Store in Philipsburg Borough. As a result, a 39-year-old Philipsburg man was arrested after he allegedly walked out without paying for a bottle of vitamin water. He was identified by the store manager and observed by police while carrying the stolen item. The man was taken into custody and found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia. The investigation is continuing at this time, and charges are currently pending.
No injuries were reported after a single-vehicle accident Monday on Beckwith Road in Worth Township. Kathleen J. Vadala, 39, of West Decatur was traveling around a sharp, uphill, right-hand curve. As she did so, a dog carrier on the rear seat overturned, and she went to grab onto it. In doing so, her vehicle left the roadway and struck a large tree. Vadala was wearing her seat belt at the time of the accident.
On Monday a 22-year-old Reedsville woman was stopped for committing multiple traffic violations on U.S. Route 322 in the area of Shady Dell Road in Worth Township. Further investigation revealed that she was in possession of a small amount of suspected marijuana and two glass smoking pipes, which contained residue. Charges will be filed against the woman through the district court.
