Quigley Posts “CORRUPTION STINKS” Sign on Third Street Property
CLEARFIELD – Dustin Quigley of D. Quigley Properties LLC is using his vacant property on North Third Street to claim “CORRUPTION STINKS.”
Quigley’s sign claims “dishonest or fraudulent conduct by those in power.” He also spread manure around the sign at the property. Quigley’s property neighbors the Clearfield County Administrative Offices located at 212 E. Locust St.
DuBois Women Waive Hearings in Prostitution Cases
DUBOIS -Two DuBois women accused of allegedly providing sexual favors in exchange for cigarette money waived their rights to preliminary hearings Friday during Centralized Court in Clearfield County.
Mackenzie Myranda DeCarlo, 19, 333 W. Long Ave., DuBois is charged with promoting prostitution-inmate in house of prostitution/business and harassment. Daniell Jovett Tymensky, 25, 21 E. Long Ave., DuBois is charged with promoting prostitution-encouraging prostitution and harassment. Bail in each case was set at $1,000, unsecured.
Court Order Lifted against Quigley, Exterior Repairs Completed at CCAO
CLEARFIELD – A court order served on Dustin Quigley of D. Quigley Properties LLC giving Clearfield County access to his North Third Street property for inspections, cleanup and repairs to one wall of its administrative offices has since been lifted, according to Commissioner Chairperson Joan Robinson-McMillen.
At Tuesday’s commissioner’s meeting, Robinson-McMillen reported that ServPro of Brookville has completed its exterior work on the wall damaged by a Feb. 9 fire at Quigley’s property, which formerly housed the Ethan’s Café/The Angry Bean and Rick Evans Photography. The commissioners, she said, would not be commenting any further on the matter.
Curwensville Man Sentenced to State Prison for Rape
CLEARFIELD – A Curwensville man who pleaded guilty in a rape case has been sentenced to state prison, according to Clearfield County District Attorney William A. Shaw Jr.
On Feb. 6 Jeremie Suhoney Sr., 37, of Walnut Street, Curwensville, was charged with rape, two counts; statutory sexual assault; involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, three counts; sexual assault; aggravated indecent assault, three counts; indecent assault, three counts; endangering the welfare of children; and corruption of minors. On May 2 Suhoney tendered a guilty plea to the charges.
Thompson Challenges Obama Administration’s Rewrite of Coal Regulation
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The House Natural Resources Committee yesterday held an oversight hearing on the status of the Obama Administration’s rewrite of a sweeping coal regulation known as the Stream Buffer Zone Rule, during which U.S. Rep. Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson questioned Joseph Pizarchik, director of Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement (OSM), U.S. Department of the Interior (DOI), on the lack of transparency governing of the rulemaking process and the potential for huge economic losses under the new regulation.
Kesner Reports on Status of Waste Management Appeal
CLEARFIELD – During his report at Tuesday’s commissioner’s meeting, County Solicitor Kim Kesner updated the press and the public on Waste Management’s appeal of Clearfield County’s 10-year Integrated Municipal Waste Services Plan.
The county submitted its waste management plan last year to the state’s Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). The DEP approved the waste plan, which then advanced to an appeal period. Prior to its expiration, Waste Management appealed DEP’s approval.
Moshannon State Forest Firefighters Return from Alaska
PENFIELD – Six Bureau of Forestry employees and one volunteer who departed from the Moshannon State Forest on July 12 have returned from their adventures in Alaska, according to Wayne Wynick, assistant district forester.
They returned to their homes late in the day on Monday. They were assigned to fight the Stuart Creek 2 Fire, which is still burning 25 miles east of the community of North Pole in Alaska, said Wynick.
Charges Held for Court in Philipsburg Man’s Drug Case
CLEARFIELD – A Philipsburg man who was found in possession of heroin had all charges held for court following a preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Jerome Nevling during Centralized Court on Wednesday at the Clearfield County Jail.
Jefferson Guy Hahn, 55, of Philipsburg has been charged with two counts each of manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver, intentional possession of controlled substance by person not registered and use/possession of drug paraphernalia and no rear lights.

CCEDC Issues Update for Several Projects
CLEARFIELD – The Board of Directors for the Clearfield County Economic Development Corporation (CCEDC), held their regular monthly meeting on July 18, 2013. Several project updates were given relating to key projects in various stages of planning and implementation around the County.
