STATE COLLEGE – On behalf of Gov. Tom Corbett, PennDOT has announced that work to improve a section of Interstate 80 in Centre County will get under way on July 22. The work will extend the life of the pavement and provide updated guide rail along the east and westbound lanes.
Weather permitting; work will start eastbound on July 22, with crews setting signage this week. The project work will include micro-surfacing of a six-mile section from mile-marker 164 to mile-marker 170 near the Clinton County line. Crews will also make guide rail updates along the six miles.
Drivers will encounter lane closures and a reduced speed limit of 45 miles per hour through the work zone.
Once the eastbound lanes are completed, the contractor will move to the westbound lanes and work from mile-marker 170 west to mile-marker 164.
PennDOT expects all work to be finished by mid-October. Suit-Kote Corporation of Tully, New York is the contractor on this $1.6 million job.
Drivers are reminded to move through construction zones with caution, obey posted speed limits and always buckle up.
