CLEARFIELD – Code Enforcement Officer Larry Mack stated that a situation was reported regarding noise from the Bionol ethanol plant. Mack stated that the ethanol plant is dropping their production by about 80 percent until they can unload some of the ethanol they have produced. According to Mack they have been waiting on permits and licenses of the rail cars. That situation was rectified and they are now loading rail cars.
There was a drop in water pressure in the boilers, which causes steam to build up, and when released is very loud. Mack said it is temporary and they hope to have it corrected by the end of next week.
According to Mack the ethanol plant is going a step further and installing a muffler system for that pipe which will prevent that noise from being emitted again.
