Helen E. Cartwright, 99, of Sandy Ridge died Thursday, June 13, 2013 at her home.
She was the daughter of the late Ray and Vanetta (Cathcart) Kanouff, born Oct. 25, 1913 in West Decatur. She married Ralph H. Cartwright on June 10, 1933 in Wallaceton. He preceded her in death Aug. 23, 1976.
Mrs. Cartwright was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church in Sandy Ridge, where she was formerly a Sunday school teacher. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Mountain Top Fire Company. She was a retired cafeteria worker for the Philipsburg-Osceola Senior High School.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Mae Jackson, Adah Murphy and Shirley Beck and three brothers, James “Jink” Kanouff, Cecil Kanouff and Edward Kanouff.
Mrs. Cartwright is survived by two daughters, Sally Lou Kephart and her husband, Richard and Bonnie Lee Johnson and her husband, Harry, all of Sandy Ridge and a son, Ralph E. Cartwright and his wife, Joanne of Sandy Ridge.
She’s also survived by seven grandchildren, Rick Kephart, Shelly Reese, Laura Shoff, Trevor Johnson, Scott Kephart, Thad Johnson and Megan Dunn; six great-grandchildren, Katie Reese, Shane Kephart, Kyle Reese, Haydn Kephart, Emily Shoff and Evan Shoff; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Heath Funeral Home in Osceola Mills, with Pastor Jennifer C. Heikes officiating.
Burial will be at the Philipsburg Cemetery in Philipsburg.
Visitation will be from 3 p.m. – 8 p.m. Sunday and from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral services Monday at the funeral home.
