Margaret J. Pewanick, 81, of Grassflat died Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at the Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College. Born May 16, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Andrew J. and Mary Patrick Pewanick.
She was a devoted Christian and a member of the Sts. Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Church, Grassflat. She was a lifetime member of the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Lodge.
She was a 1948 graduate of the Cooper Township High School. She held a clerical position for the American Greeting Card Company of Cleveland, OH.
She’s survived by three sisters, Verna Master and her husband, John of Stephens City, VA, Dorothy Pewanick of Grassflat and Barbara Surovec and her husband, Michael of Bellefonte and one brother, Joseph Pewanick of Hawk Run.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Ann, Mary and Helen Pewanick; an infant brother, Michael; three brothers, John, Andrew and Edward Pewanick; two sisters-in-law, Georgetta and Helen Pewanick; and a niece, Nancy Troxell.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Sts. Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Church, Grassflat, with the Father David A. Perry as celebrant. Burial will be in the Sts. Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Cemetery, Grassflat.
Visitation will be private for close family and friends from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Friday at the Johnson Funeral Home.
