William H. Utzinger, 83 of DuBois died Saturday, May 4, 2013 at Excela Health Latrobe Hospital in Latrobe. Born Dec. 27, 1929, he was the son of the late William M. and Dolly (Lydick) Miller Utzinger.
On June 14, 1951, he married Phyllis A. (Leach) Utzinger. She survives.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and served during the Korean War.
He retired from Halls Motor Transit Company after 31 years of service as a truck driver and dock supervisor. After retirement, he worked as a custodian for the DuBois Area School District for five years.
He attended Grace United Methodist Church in Sykesville and enjoyed camping, gardening and especially baking. He loved to sit on his front porch in the summertime.
He is survived by a son, William R. Utzinger and his wife, Rosie of Oil City; three daughters, Judy M. Fields and her husband, Ray, Wanda J. Armagost and her husband, Samuel and Kathy A. Utzinger, all of DuBois; a brother, Emory Miller of Rockton; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by five brothers.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home Inc.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home with Pastor Dawn Krishart and Pastor Deb Rogosky co-officiating.
Full military honors will be accorded at the funeral home by the members of the DuBois Area Honor Guard.
Burial will follow in Salem Cemetery.
