JOHNSONBURG – The Curwensville Area High School baseball team lost for the second time to unbeaten Johnsonburg ( 9-0) over the past six days, losing Saturday afternoon in four and a half innings, 14-1, on the Rams home field.
On Monday Johnsonburg won at Curwensville, 5-3.
Brett Gardner had the only shining moment for the Golden Tide, as the junior slugged a solo home run in the second inning.
The Rams knocked out three home runs on the afternoon, as Kyle Sheldon and Devon Zilcoski hit back to back third inning round trippers with one out. Sheldon had a two run blast while Zilcoski followed with a solo shot.
In the fourth inning with no outs, Ram first baseman Taylor Feronti had a three run home run. Feronti also added a triple on the day, knocking in four runs.
Of the Rams 13 hits, six went for extra bases.
Cole Peterson picked up the win on the mound for Johnsonburg, scattering just two hits and striking out nine Tide hitters in the shortened game.
Curwensville (2-8) returns to action at home on Monday in a Moshannon Valley League battle with West Branch. First pitch is set for 4:15 pm.
