I find the objections of Clearfield’s mayor to the Boro securing the police station very disturbing. Mayor Gilliland presented a similar legal case to Boro Council, asked the Boro to undo the new security procedures with the caveat of “This will prevent further expense to the borough”
Where I come from that is a threat of legal action.
Basically what our mayor wants is unrestricted access to things like records of ongoing investigations. To the best of my knowledge Ms. Gilliand has no police training so why should she have access to that kind of information? Why would anyone WANT that kind of responsibility for a job that pays little or nothing?
Hopefully when the time comes to elect a new mayor, the people of Clearfield Boro will remember this and elect someone who doesn’t feel the need to micro-manage everything and let the people who are trained to do police work do the job they were hired to do.
