DUBOIS – This month, the local American Red Cross serving Cameron, Clearfield, Elk and Jefferson counties will offer an opportunity for area residents to bid on items for their home and wardrobe, all while supporting the organization’s humanitarian work in the local community.
In an effort to raise funds for local disaster relief efforts, the Red Cross PA Heartland Chapter will host a benefit auction on April 20 at St. Charles Café, at 226 N. Third St., Clearfield. The live auction preview will begin at 5 p.m., accompanied by light refreshments and hors d’oeuvres, and the live auction will begin promptly at 7 p.m. Ticket cost will be $10 for early buyers and $12 for those buying at the door.
“We are so excited to host a fun opportunity, filled with beautiful items donated from local community members,” said Jason Bange, executive director of the local Red Cross. “Winners of each item can go home with a great piece and know that their support went to a worthy cause.”
Auction items were made possible by donations through local community members. Items include a Vera Bradley hand bag, carved Pittsburgh Pirate figurines and home goods including bird feeders and a bedside table.
All proceeds from the auction will benefit local disaster relief. The Red Cross in Western Pennsylvania responds to approximately three disasters each day, providing victims with their immediate disaster-caused needs including food, clothing and shelter. Last year, the PA Heartland Chapter responded to approximately 50 emergencies and provided Red Cross services to nearly 50 families.
