CLEARFIELD – Lock Haven University and Clearfield County Career & Technology Center are hosting an information session for adults seeking CDL training. The university is offering a 240-hour intensive course to certify and prepare students to work in the natural gas industry, which includes 180 hours of CDL training.
The program is made available through a ShaleNet grant funded by the Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration. Its mission is to design a comprehensive recruitment, training, placement and retention program for high priority occupations in the natural gas drilling and production industry.
Two information sessions will be held 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. April 22 at the CCCTC. The sessions will provide details regarding entry-level jobs in the natural gas industry, the CDL training program, the application process and work conditions encountered by workers in the gas industry. . Eligible students can obtain the training at no cost. The CDL portion of the training will be held at CCCTC in the Truck Driver Training department.
