PORT MATILDA – A 39-year-old Tyrone woman was transported to the Altoona Hospital after sustaining severe injuries in a Saturday morning accident on state Route 220 in Port Matilda Borough, the Philipsburg State Police reported.
Jo Lynn Baran’s condition was unknown at the time of the report, according to police.
Baran was traveling south on SR 220, when her vehicle traveled off the roadway on the west berm. Her vehicle continued to travel in the ditch, striking a reflector post, which belonged to a Port Matilda man, with the left front fender. Her vehicle became airborne and struck a small embankment at the end of the ditch before traveling across a private driveway and a culvert.
After impacting the ground and overturning, her vehicle continued to travel, striking a shed porch that belonged to a Port Matilda woman. Her vehicle struck the shed with its rear end, causing it to roll over and damage the porch. Baran’s vehicle rolled again and remained on its roof, traveling south before it came to a rest.
Baran’s seatbelt was in use at the time of the accident. Her vehicle sustained severe damage.
Police were assisted at the scene by the Port Matilda and Bald Eagle Fire Companies, the Fire Police and the AMED Ambulance Service.
