CLEARFIELD – For the first time, adults are invited to “Catch the Reading Bug” this summer and take part in the Shaw Public Library Summer Reading Program. The goal is to have fun while encouraging reading and use of the library. The program will run from June 11 to July 26.
The program broadly follows the format of the Youth’s Summer Reading Program, a popular event held every summer. Participants will be free to read any books and types of material of their choice. “We hope the program is well received by the community and that there is strong participation in our inaugural adult reading program” stated Paula Marshall, Library Director.
Registration for the adult reading program will be held in conjunction with the youth summer reading kickoff event on June 11th, “What’s all the buzz?” Any adult that registers between June 11 and June 28 will have their name entered into a drawing for a MP3 player, compliments of the Central PA District Library Center. The drawing for the MP3 player will be held on June 30.
The adult summer program also is the kickoff for the new downloadable audio book program offered by the Library. More information on this service will be available starting on June 11th.
Shaw Public Library is open on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday and Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. If you would like more information about any of the summer reading programs, please call the library at 765-3271.
